What a horrible week for the Philly sports teams!
Monday is Day 2.
This week we celebrate "Week of Respect". Each day is a different theme.
Monday, October 5th- Respect Is The Golden Rule! Wear a gold or yellow shirt.
Tuesday, October 6th- Be a Hero, Not a Villain! Wear a superhero shirt.
Wednesday, October 7th- Peace, Love and Respect! Wear a tye-dye or colorful shirt.
Thursday, October 8th- Hats Off To Respect! Wear your favorite or silly hat.
Friday, October 9th- Team Up Against Bullying! Wear your favorite sports team shirt.
Tuesday is our first CHAMPS Clubs after school activity day. Parents are reminded that CHAMPS ends at 410pm. Parents picking up should be at the Main Office Entrance of the school. Those students riding the Activity Bus may arrive later to their stop due to all students riding the same bus.
Friday is an Early Dismissal Day for Staff In-Service. Dismissal is at 1255pm. Families are reminded to have someone at the Walker Door or Bus Stop to receive your child.
Next Monday, October 12, school will be closed for Columbus Day.

Friday we will have SIP Assemblies for Grades K-4 with LEAD Officer Torres. These are grade level specific assemblies ranging from "Stranger Danger" through the dangers of vaping.

Our Summer Reading Rocks program is winding down for students entering Grades 1-5. If you have completed your reading, please fill out the form below.
Read ANY (10) books and fill out the online form here: https://forms.gle/9zURQBJgSUsxKxq47 Form is due by 9/16/26.
All students completing the program will earn a free kid’s combo certificate from Raising Cane’s and will be entered to win a Reading Prize basket!
Summer reading books need to be returned during the first week of school.

Parents are reminded to go onto the Parent Portal and:
1) Complete ALL questions and surveys.
2) Complete/Update the Emergency Contact Information page.
3) If your child will be a Walker/Parent Pickup this year, please go under the Transportation section and modify this ASAP.
If you are having difficulties with the Portal, please contact the Main Office.
Morning Dropoff and Afternoon Pickup appeared to go well today. Please ensure that we maintain all vehicle traffic heading from Austin Ave. down Huntington Ave. towards Station Ave. for everyone's safety. Also, at Dismissal, please stand by your child's grade level sign on the fence. This will help us to get every child to their adult. Lastly, we ask that non-traditional transportation changes require a call to the Main Office so we have it noted for our records. Please do not contact the teacher.
The remaining days this week are all full days with a 2:55pm Dismissal. Please be sure to have someone present at the Walker Door or the Bus Stop to receive your child.

Salute to Service
The Friday before Memorial Day is officially recognized as National Poppy Day in the U.S.
The poppy flower symbolizes both remembrance for fallen soldiers and active support for living veterans. It represents the blood shed in battle and serves as a visual pledge that the sacrifices of our United States military service members will never be forgotten.
Veterans' associations distribute these flowers in exchange for charitable donations. These funds provide direct financial and medical assistance to veterans and their families. Often, the artificial poppies are handmade by disabled and hospitalized veterans themselves as a form of therapeutic rehabilitation.
All this coming week leading up to Memorial Day weekend we will be collecting $1 donations in exchange for a poppy flower. Proceeds will go to benefit local veterans' organizations.
Thank you again for your support of Glendora Elementary School and our belief in being good citizens and helping local charities.
