Dear Blackwood Families,

Earlier today, our students and staff evacuated the building due to the smell of gas isolated to the immediate area surrounding the boiler room. This event occurred after the building regained power, due to a situation elsewhere in the community. Emergency responders quickly arrived and determined the cause of the smell. Within a matter of minutes, we were cleared by the Fire Department to re-enter the building.

Thankfully, this was the full extent of the issue, and no one was in danger at any point. We had to modify the building schedule to ensure that all students received their lunch.

We are very proud of how calmly and responsibly our students and staff followed all procedures.

We want to assure you that everyone is safe. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep our school community safe and strong.

Educationally Yours,

Mr. Jacob Lessman, M.Ed.
