Gloucester Township is committed to providing an extensive continuum of special education programs and services to serve our diverse population of students with special needs. We constantly strive to improve our programs through professional development, research-based methods, and cutting-edge recommendations for best practices.

Several times per month, the preschool child study team screens preschool students ages three to five suspected of displaying developmental delays. The screenings determine if preschoolers require additional testing to determine their eligibility for special education and related services. If you have a concern regarding your child’s development in the areas of speech and language skills, self-help skills, social skills, or thinking and reasoning skills, please call 232-8300 x3203 to schedule a screening appointment for your child.

In the fall of 2007, the Department of Instruction initiated the formation of a parent advisory committee for special education. The purpose of this committee is for parents to provide feedback and make general suggestions regarding Gloucester Township special education programs and services. Parents were invited to attend a general meeting, held on January 8, 2008, that involved the selection of a parent representative for each district school as well as a representative for out of district schools. These representatives agreed to bring parent concerns and suggestions back to the committee from their individual school buildings. Contact information for the parent representatives for each school, as well as a summary from our most recent committee meeting, are included on this website. Please contact the appropriate parent representative with any general concerns or suggestions. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s individual program or services, please contact your child’s case manager, building principal, or special education administrator.
