Special Programs
Latch Key
In order to help meet the needs of our working parents, the Gloucester Township Board of Education offers a Latchkey program. The Latchkey program is financially self-supporting, funded entirely through tuition fees. Latchkey services are offered to children attending all eight elementary schools in our district. All children of working parents in grades kindergarten through fifth who attend Gloucester Township Public Schools are eligible. Age requirements mandate children must be five years old by September 30th and not exceed 12 years of age by June 30th of the current school year.
AM kindergarten students may attend AM latchkey, PM kindergarten students may attend PM latchkey. Every effort will be made to accommodate all children needing care, but space is limited. If need exceeds space, a waiting list will be established. All registrants must comply with eligibility requirements. The Summer Latchkey Program is a continuation of the school year program. Only those children attending the school year Latchkey Program are eligible for participation in the summer program. We do not accept new registrations for the Summer Latchkey Program. Questions about the Latchkey Program should be directed to the Latchkey Administration Office at 856-227-1400 x 2103. Project Child Find
The Gloucester Township Public School District provides free programs for children ages 3 to 5 with special needs. If you know of a child who exhibits problems seeing, hearing, talking, moving, or thinking, please encourage the parents to call 856-232-8300, ext. 3401, for a free evaluation. If parents recognize the special needs of their children early, and if they seek help from professionals who care, then the better their children’s chances will be of reaching their full potential.
