Fifth Grade Spring Afterschool Club
Students who take part in the Computer Club will become more familiar with the PC Computer by actively using various software. Each participant will have access to their own computer and will learn how to utilize the scanner and digital camera to create personalized documents. Shakespeare Club - Mrs. DiCamillo The purpose of this club is to expose students to William Shakespeare, one of the greatest playwrights of all time. Students will look at the time period in which he lived and use an adaptation of one of his plays to introduce both his life and one of his works. They will also concentrate on his style, theme, and character development in the selected play. Sign Language Club- Ms. Alexander This club serves as a basic introduction to American Sign Language. This langauge is spoken with the hands and other movements, including facial expressions and postures of the body. It is the first language of many deaf North Americans, and one of several communication options available to deaf people. ASL is said to be the fourth most commonly used language in the United States. Students will learn the manual alphabet and numbers, simple common signs, and phrases.
