Forty-four years ago the C.W. Lewis Middle School was opened as the first middle school in Gloucester Township. Our school is steep in tradition and one often hears from alumni of many different generations, “Once a Lewis Indian, always a Lewis Indian.”

What can be best said about our school can be found in a 2006 state monitoring report, The C.W. Lewis school administration and staff are commended for the educational family environment that exists in this building. The nurturing educational feeling portrayed upon guests to this school is a very honest reflection on the true caring reality that occurs as a unit. Problems and/or corrective issues do not have individual ownership; it is a family issue. The staff spends many, many extra hours of personal time and effort to provide help in every way to their students.
