Mr. Alan Gansert |
The administration and staff at the Charles W. Lewis Middle School are dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and academic needs of our students. Grounded in middle school research, our school is structured in core programs that provide small learning communities for instruction in science, social studies, mathematics and language arts literacy classes through a block schedule.
In addition to our core academic program, the middle school offers excellent exploratory courses in the area of fine arts and technology education. Physical education courses stress lifetime fitness, healthful living and social skills.
The introduction of morning Advisory has created a program that builds relationships between teachers and students giving students a sense of community and a base of support in the school. We are pleased to continue our involvement in Best Behaviors and Responding in Peaceful and Positive Ways (RiPP). The two programs are part of a federal study grant to enhance student conduct and peer relationships. Bullying is a family issue at C.W. Lewis Middle School, and our violence and bullying prevention programs have a clear and constant message so students, themselves, buy into maintaining a peaceful, caring school environment. Lewis students grow in civic responsibility by supporting school-wide campaigns to assist others in need.
The tapestry of diverse student perspectives, races and cultures brings richness to our school family and enhances our appreciation and understanding of our global community. We are appreciative and fortunate that the extended Lewis community, our Home and School Council, along with parents and residents, are highly supportive of our school, our students and their activities. Parents are always welcome as partners in the school effort to provide a legacy of life-long learning and service to others. |
