Enhancements to Our School
Another exciting year will kick-off in September ‘09 with numerous upgrades to our facilities & curriculum. Enhancements include:
1) Each classroom had its mini-computer lab expanded to include new Apple eMacs;
2) Our school will now have three sections of Grade 2 to accommodate our continued growth;
3) Our cafeteria will use a computerized system with new student ID cards;
4) Grades 3 and 5 will add the new Everyday Math program;
5) Our Grade 1 students will have the new mimeo white board technology piloted in their classrooms;
6) Our Renaissance Responder System will be expanded to include both 4th & 5th Grades;
7 ) Grades K, 1, & 2 will continue supplement the Harcourt Trophies literacy program with an expanded Guided Reading program and Fountas & Pinnell Literacy Level assessments;
8) Our 5th Grade teachers will continue to use Learnia Test Data system to pinpoint item analysis from the NJASK state tests;
9) Grades 3, 4, & 5 will continue using the new Lucy Caulkins Writer’s Workshop program to extend writing ability;
10) Our Kindergarten students will continue to experience the new Extended Day format that will add instructional time to their day;
11) Our classroom teachers will use the new block scheduling format to allow for greater content equity and common planning time;
12) Our parents will be invited to a new Americanism Parent Preview show on November 11th---Veterans Day!;
and finally…Miss New Jersey will return and again appear at our NJ AMVETS sponsored/National Award Winning Americanism Program on Friday, November 13th!
New Staff
This year we welcome Mrs. Farah as our new full time Librarian and Media Specialist. In addition, returning to our staff is Miss Snapp as a new Grade 2 teacher. Also, joining our staff will be Mrs. Lesch, who will work in our Resource Room. Several teachers will move to new assignments: Mr. Hansen will move from Grade 4 to Math Coordinator/BSIP; Mrs. Walto will move from Grade 3 to Grade 4; and Ms. Meland will move from Grade 1 to Grade 3. Gloucester Township Elementary School is an outstanding learning environment for all our students. Our family oriented setting and small school concept provides elementary aged students with the perfect atmosphere to learn & grow!
